400

Budapest. 400

Named 400 by its area in square meters, this Serbian bar is a lovely quiet spot in the day time, and a popular party scene at nights. 400 serves Serbian specialties from a Serbian chef, offers reasonable prices, live concerts/DJs and a screen for football addicts. And it is big enough to house folks of every stripe and color.

Café Eklektika

Budapest. Café Eklektika

Cozy place with reasonable prices and good salads, daily lunch menu on weekdays. Trendy & fashionable, gay and lesbian friendly.

VI. Nagymező utca 30

Borbíróság

Wine restaurant with good selection of Hungarian wines. Smoking and non-smoking zones. European cuisine with Hungarian bits. Summer terrace.

A38

A38 is the former Ukrainian barge Artemovsk 38, which became after reconstruction one of the coolest clubs in Budapest.

On the deck there is a restaurant and a terrace (closed in winter), and in the hold there is a dance floor. A38 is a venue for designers, artists and open-minded persons. Definitely worth visiting despite the above average prices.

Castro Bisztro

Always crowded. Popular among locals and tourists. Serbian specialties, inexpensive drinks. No Cuban food and cigars despite the name. One of the places in Budapest you want to come back to because of its special, laid-back atmosphere.

Goa Café

Budapest. Goa Café

CLOSED We like the place because of its location, interior, huge windows facing Andrássy, good food and friendly service. It is wisely divided into two areas - bar with high stools and restaurant, and has summer terrace.

VI. Andrássy út, 8

Szoda

Budapest. Szoda

The place is rather popular, partly because of moderate prices and free hotspot. Crowd is mostly local. Downstairs is the dance-floor. DJs: residents & guests.

VII. Wesselényi utca 18

Tripla

The bar is crowded with students from the nearby university. Strong coffee. From time to time they have various exhibitions there (paintings). DJ is playing every day starting from 19:00.

V. Királyi Pál utca 6

Tandem Cafe

Budapest. Tandem

Small bar near Central Market (Vásárcsarnok), where you can have a cup coffee while checking your e-mail. They don't offer food here, just drinks and snacks. I little bit dark and smoky, but this is the way Hungarians love it.

IX. Pipa utca 6

Pink Cadillac

Pizza, pasta, salads, bruschettas - Italian cuisine at moderate price in a simple interior. Delivery in the downtown districts.
