Fecske is an arty café/bar which we consider a good alternative to posh restaurants and low-life drinking holes as it is somewhere in the middle between both. Here you can have good food at reasonable prices (we recommend duck breast with rice and seeds) or enjoy booze night with your buddies in homely atmosphere. They have music programs on some weekends.

This kert (open-air bar) is a huge terrace with a spectacular view of the Danube, Margit Island, and the pool, that offers good service, nice food at reasonable prices and music by a DJ. Relaxing and energizing atmosphere. Deck-chair for sunbathing and great lemonade.

Former socialist artists' club, with the restaurant, shadowy summer terrace in the inner court and bar in the cellar. Decadence at its best with peeling paint, shabby and dusty interiors. Concerts on some nights in their skunky basement that often stays crowded till dawn with heavily drinking intellectuals.

Quiet restaurant in the quiet downtown square. The prices are average, and the waiters speak English. The point of difference though is the opening hours – it is one of the rare places in the center of Budapest where you can have breakfast. Among other advantages are their many varieties of daily menus and desserts. The turnoff is the annoying reminders from the waiters that "service is not included".

We like the place because of its location, interior, huge windows facing Andrássy, good food and friendly service. It is wisely divided into two areas - bar with high stools and restaurant, and has summer terrace.

VI. Andrássy út, 8

Nightclub, art gallery, music lounge, outdoor movie theater. This space under the square in the heart of Budapest offers variety of events from rock to folk concerts, from art and theatrical performances to modern dance shows. Prices depend on the event.
