Budapest. Railways and Train Stations

There are 3 main train stations for international and domestic trains in Budapest. All the stations are about 45 minutes from the airport and have connection to the metro system and other public transport.

There are direct rail links between Budapest and the major capitals and cities of Europe. Over 50 international trains arrive in and depart from Budapest daily.

Tickets are available at the train stations, MAV’s central ticket office, and various travel agencies.

Keleti (East) Station

Most international trains leave from Keleti.

Tickets for domestic IC (InterCity) trains can be ordered by phone 24 hrs.

Nyugati (West) Station

International destinations from Nyugati are mostly eastward. Nyugati also serves Visegrád and Esztergom.

Déli (South) Station

Among other destinations serves trains to Lake Balaton.
