Csendes Bar

Csendes (Silent) is the new kid on the block that takes its name from the grand restaurant that used to be in this space many years ago.

In addition to the name the place preserved also two imposing columns that are the focus of this abundantly decorated space. Indeed, you may spent hours just examining all the interior details of the bar, big and small, the objects and pieces of arts covering the walls and hanging from the ceiling.

It may be said without exaggeration that the eclectic design of Csendes is the classic example of Hungarian contemporary art. The crowd of Csendes is defined by the proximity of ELTE university: it is mostly students with few occasional professors that fill the place to chat, to have a drink and to listen to DJs playing every evening.

Since Csendes is a bar, its menu is very simple. It consists of usual assortment of beers, Hungarian wines and basic cocktails. Snacks are sandwiches and scones.

The major disadvantage of the place is a heavy cigarette smoke that may annoy even the chain-smokers.
