Dining Out: Restaurants and Cafes

Longford Irish Pub

Budapest. Longford Irish Pub

Classic Irish pub with classic selection of beers and Hungarian additions to the menu.

A38

A38 is the former Ukrainian barge Artemovsk 38, which became after reconstruction one of the coolest clubs in Budapest.

On the deck there is a restaurant and a terrace (closed in winter), and in the hold there is a dance floor. A38 is a venue for designers, artists and open-minded persons. Definitely worth visiting despite the above average prices.

Centrál Kávéház

One of the oldest Vienna-style cafés in Pest. Good coffee and desserts plus a menu with Hungarian tourists. Staff are quite professional. Usually many tourists.

Castro Bisztro

Always crowded. Popular among locals and tourists. Serbian specialties, inexpensive drinks. No Cuban food and cigars despite the name. One of the places in Budapest you want to come back to because of its special, laid-back atmosphere.

Café Vian

Budapest. Café Vian

Placid, curvy and soft interior. Big selection of delicious baguettes and sandwiches. Good preparty bar or breakfast cafe, especially in summer when they have a cosy terrace.

Goa Café

Budapest. Goa Café

CLOSED We like the place because of its location, interior, huge windows facing Andrássy, good food and friendly service. It is wisely divided into two areas - bar with high stools and restaurant, and has summer terrace.

Etno Coffe & Lounge

Budapest. Etno Coffe & Lounge

"Coffe" is not a typo here, it's just the name of the place as they spell it. Italian cuisine, but with Goulash and other Hungarian specialties. Dimmed light and romantic atmosphere in modern interior.

Replay Café

Budapest. Replay Café

Downtown café with big non-smoking area. Prices are average, and so are the portions. Italian cuisine with Hungarian bits (such as Goulash). Summer terrace.

Fresco Cafe

Budapest. Fresco Cafe

Sensitive interior with precise Oriental strokes, and their chandeliers are the masterpiece of do-it-yourself style. The food is nothing special, average at best, but cocktails are good.

Budda Coffee Bar

Budapest. Dining Out. Budda Coffee Bar

Really delicious Thai food. Prices are 800 to 2000 HUF. Portions are huge. Good place to meet and eat. They also deliver food to some districts.
