Budapest fountains

Budapest, famous (among other things) for its thermal springs has very close relationships with water. It stands on one of the major European rivers (which floods it quite regularly), it has baths with healing waters all over the town, in Buda, and in Pest, and fountains were always a traditional decoration for Budapest squares.

Here is Danubius Fountain on Erzsébet Square.
It symbolizes three rivers of Hungary represented by female figures: Tisza, Drava and Sava (the latter now flows through Slovenia and Croatia). The male figure facing the Danube, is the main river iself.
This neo-renaissance fountain built in 1880 originally stood on Kálvin tér, and in 1978 was moved to then Engels, and now Erzsébet Square.
Vörösmarty tér lion-decorated fountain was built in 1984 on the spot of the well famous for its water in the early 19th century.
Hermes Fountain at Vaci utca, 16 was built in 1983, but the statue itself dates back to mid-19th century when it was a decoration in a facade niche at Duna utca. The house was destroyed and Hermes moved around city until finding its place on top of this fountain.
Petőfi fountain (by Wild László, 1983) standing next to the monument of the main Hungarian poet has drinking water.
The motif of its decorations is hearts, you them everywhere,
and some are even being added.
This is how locals drink from Petofi well.
The fountain with drinking water in front of Gellért thermal Hotel represents the springs, and rivers, and all things water in Hungary.
This fountain made of famous Zsolnay majolica in clear water-blue is decorated with “flowing” ornaments, waves and streams.
This modern bubbly fountain on Október 6. utca has very distinctive sound of boiling soup.
Another modern addition to Budapest fountain scene. (Október 6. utca)
Fountain on Március 15. square, reconstructed with European Union funds.

The book fountain

Yeah, this one should be called "The Photo Opportunity Fountain."
I much preferred the one that was there before, and dogs played with it so well.
