Taxi in Budapest

Budapest. Taxi

In Budapest ordering a taxi by phone is cheaper and safer than hailing one in the street. Switchboard operators usually speak English. The taxi normally arrives within 5-15 minutes. In a restaurant or hotel you may ask staff to get taxi for you.

Rates depend on the taxi companies and the price of petrol. If your destination is outside Budapest, you have to pay return fare also to the city border. 10% tip is usually given to the taxi driver.
