Im Nirvana Club in Budapest habe ich erstmals in meinem Leben Nötigung, Korruption und Abzocke erlebt. Beim Bezahlen meines 2dl Colas, bekam ich eine Rechnung die 19mal einem normalen Preis in einem solchen Lokal entsprach. Auf der Rechnung wurde das Trinkgeld sogar auch noch gleich addiert! Für die 2dl habe ich um CHF 118 bezahlt!!!! Sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt. Als ich mich beschwert hatte, nahm mich der Kellner in einen Raum nähe des Ausgang. Er bat mich, mir das Portemonnai zu zeigen, er sah meine Euronote die ich ihm nicht geben wollte. Ich wollte plötzlich nur noch raus, da am Eingang gleich zwei Bodyguards wachten und mich mit grösster Sicherheit nicht rausgelassen hätten. Ich bezahlte, wollte eine Quittung, gab den Zettel retour, er wurde aber auch nicht ordnunggemäss Quitiert. Auch die Polizei, um 23.30 Uhr waren plötzlich ca. 8 Leute um mich rum, fragten mich, was Sie denn machen sollten als ich Ihnen den Fall schilderten. Anscheinend war Ihnen der Laden mit seinen Machenschaften schon mehr als bekannt. Sie hatten für mich nur ein Lächeln übrig und unternahmen nichts! Das ist für mich auch Ungarn....leider leider und das am 26.2.2007!
Die Polizei kann in dem Fall leider nichts machen. Du hast was getrunken, was auf der Karte mit überhöhtem Preis stand. Von daher ist leider nichts gegen solche Abzocker zu machen.

Went there after Rio nightclub with a friend. Ironically we weren't really going to go but said just half hour bit of a laugh so jumped in a cab & never really had a problem in other European countries before. 60,000 later we walked out. B***ds!! But Hungary is only a young Capitalist country and even gangsters know in the long run it's not good for business to 'rip people off'. In time the Police will get bored & the Politicians will be forced to shut it down. So do say no figure of Budapest lovely city, lovely people, g8 food. What I can offer on the mistakes we made was, do not go in a cab (all cabs are a rip off in Budapest be prepared) anywhere dodgey, ask the hotel where you stay on where to go, do a bit of research first & bit of nauce this industry still has bad business practise to civillians. (They wont survive though even they know that.)
The taxi itself is not a ripp off, just never let the taxi driver bring you to a place "he knows". If you tell him the exact street or place you want to go he will bring you there.
He is getting paid a good commission by the clubs to bring people...

The club is the best club I ever been to. We were with three guys and ripped of for 1.500 euros for only 3 beers!!! We didn't ask for anythink and when we decided to leave the club... we had to pay a bill of 620.000 HUF ????
So never go there! That guys are crazy and you can't run because of the three Robocops in front of the door.

A friend and in a harmless jaunt to view beautiful bare Budapest girls learnt the expensive (and some what scary way) when entering the club for free all seemed well except when we realised that the drinks we bought for our delightful stripper friends were not actually 4800FT they were 48000FT!!!!!!!
For this slight oversight in pricing we were told that we would have 2 hours sex! But I actually just wanted strippers I said, not sex... we are leaving. This was the defining moment when all got pear shaped.
One angry large individual told us you have to pay or.....
So the question was asked... do we run or do we pay as the bill they presented was for 241000FT!!!!!!!!

It is very sad to hear these stories over and over again. Every year people run in these ripp off striptease bars. Thats what keeps this business alive. The hard thing though is that they close their bars and open up under another name the next year so its really hard to keep track of the ripp off bars in Budapest.
The US embassy once released a list of these bars but they cannot keep it up to date.
