Events in August The major event of August is undoubtedly Sziget Festival to be held from August 13 to 17 – the music festival that also features dance, theater, fashion and many other types of art created by artists from around the world. Held annually since 1993, Sziget is one of the most popular gatherings of that kind in Eastern Europe, attended in 2006 alone by 385 000 visitors. The festival is the stage for both stars and young musicians. This year Sziget invited Alanis Morisette, Sex Pistols, R.E.M., Roisin Murphy, The Killers, just to name a few.

Bodies, the Exhibition
This exhibition that will run in VAM Design Center in the downtown Budapest features more than 200 organs and full body specimens in 9 galleries.

On display are the dissected real human bodies specimens preserved with the help of advanced technologies to show the visitors the beauty and complexity of body’s many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs.

The exhibition that was a great success in many world cities including New York, London and Amsterdam will run in Budapest from May 24 to December 31.

Budapest. Critical Mass

This year’s Critical Mass
event to be held on the 20th of April in celebration of the Earth Day is expected to be enormous with the route on both sides of the Danube.

The Critical Mass held in Budapest twice a year since 2004 attracts now more and more cyclists and supporters thus showing to the public and the authorities that biking is healthy, clean and cheap. On the last year’s Earth Day Budapest had the largest Critical Mass event in history with around 50,000 cyclists participating.
