National Birthday

20th of August is a big day for Hungarians, day of Saint Stephen who created this country. It is a national holiday with extensive programs all over the country with the biggest celebrations in Budapest.

This year the celebrations start on August 19th with the Saint Stephen - The Birth of a State Historical Gala at 21:00 at Kossuth Lajos tér (Parliament).

The program of August 20th includes:
March of Army Band - at 08:45 from Oktogon to Heroes’ Square.

Bicycle walks in Budapest: Népsziget

Népsziget is yet another island in Budapest (though far less popular than Margit Island or Óbudai Island) connected to XIII district in Pest and Római part in Buda. Római part is lively recreational area with many cafes and open air pools.

Népsziget is the land of semi-abandoned factories, various sport facilities and camping sites, an ungroomed park with its distinctive atmosphere.
